Biography

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist church. Officiating will be Rev. Tom Long and Rev. Irl Holt. Interment will be held at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Mary was born Tuesday, March 12, 1918 in Roff, Oklahoma; she was the daughter of the late Harvey Pinkney Gaines and the late Josephine Cocks Gaines. She married Maurice Oliver on October 23, 1938 in Vernon, TX. He preceded her in death on February 8, 1999. Mary came to Wilbarger County at the age of two in a cover wagon she moved to Austin in 2007. She was a volunteer for 20 years at the Boys & Girls Club where she taught sewing, Scout Den Mother, A Class Room Mother and provided other volunteer support to Vernon School & Organizations. She visited many friends and acquaintance in the hospital and nursing homes over the years, a one women support group offering comfort, support, companionship and care to those in need. She was former Co-Owner and operator of Purity Bakery in Vernon. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Numerous beloved nieces & nephews

Visitation will be 10:00 AM Saturday at the Chapel of First United Methodist Church.

Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church, Boys & Girls Club or Maurice & Geneva Oliver Scholarship Fund at Herring Bank.

Pallbearers will be Milo Mark Benningfield, Alex Oliver, Ryan Oliver, Todd Oliver and Michael Maltby.
