AJ Duffie, 97 of Vernon, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 in Vernon, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 5, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist church, Vernon with Ray Adams, son-in-law officiating. Dr. Derrell Monday and Mike Klappenbach will be assisting. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.

AJ was born to Andrew and Sylvia Fox Duffie on August 31, 1924 in Vernon, Texas. he was the oldest of four children. He married Catherine Hope McAdams on January 28, 1951 in Vernon. They were married for fifty-seven years, until her death in December of 2008.They were blessed with two daughters Marsha Lynn and Karen Sue, who died at the age of seventeen months.

He was honored Army Veteran who served in World War II fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for thirty-five years, he was also a farmer and rancher.

AJ is survived by his daughter Marsha Adams, her husband Ray and grandson Luke Adams of Melissa, Texas. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Jane Duffie and Alene Duffie and a brother-in-law, Phillip Scott. He is also survived by three nephews: Doug Duffie of Colleyville, Kelly Duffie of Cypress and Larry Duffie of Vernon and niece LuAnn Duffie of Vernonas well as numerous great nieces and nephews.

AJ became a member of First Baptist Church after trusting in  Christ  as an eleven-year-old boy. He was a member of First Baptist Church for over eighty-five years recognized as oldest member. He has served as a Deacon and in many other capacities. His faith in Christ was the bedrock of his life. He often reminded others of how God had blessed him. He was a family man. He dearly loved his wife, Catherine. They enjoyed sharing life together in many ways. They enjoyed traveling, serving together in church and spending time with family. They were so excited to welcome their only grandchild, Luke. Luke and "Pop" enjoyed sharing many activities and good times. Their favorite was fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, daughter Karen Sue, his parents, Andrew and Sylvia, brothers Tommie Duffie and Luel Duffie, sister Pat Scott and nephew Andy Duffie.
