Albert Lee Mayo, 78, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, in Vernon Texas.

Funeral services will be held Thursday August 20, 2026, at 10:00am at the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Trey Schur officiating, burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. 

Albert was born Thursday, May 27, 1948, in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Carl Elwood Mayo and the late Margie Lee Childress Mayo. Albert married Madie Doyleen Fennell on November 6, 1971, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Madie passed away in 2000. Albert served in the US Army, including a tour to Vietnam. Albert was drafted straight out of high school, later serving in the National Guard. Albert loved fishing, coaching baseball, playing pool, and bowling. Albert was a proud member of the VFW, and he enjoyed helping with Disabled Veterans events. Albert was a member of the Western Trail Cowboy Church.

Albert leaves behind three daughters, Amy Shipley and husband James of Plano, Texas, Amanda Schlegel of Boston, Massachusetts and Rhonda Mayo of Johnson City, Tennessee. Albert also leaves behind his grandchildren, Joshua, Jonathan, Kayla, Nikki, Jordan, Mackenzie, Madeline and Maranda, along with seven great grandchildren, two brothers Jackie Mayo and Tommy Mayo, and several nieces and nephews.

Albert is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Margie Mayo, his wife Madie Mayo, one son Chuck Mayo and one sister Shirley Graves.

Visitation will be held Wednesday August 19, 2026, from 6-7pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
