Alton Hoke, 91, passed peacefully in his home on Thursday, June 30, 2022.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at 2:00PM at Chillicothe Church of Christ.
Alton was born on October 2, 1930, in Vernon, TX to the late D.W. Hoke and the late Mabel Miller Hoke. He married Linda Lovelace on December 17, 1950, in Vernon, TX. He was owner/operator of Hoke's Automotive and Alton Hoke Trucking. Alton was a long-time farmer and rancher, and he began his career with Summerlee Foundation where he managed the Medicine Mound Ranch until it sold in 2015. At that time, he was relocated to a ranch in Cottle County that he managed until his death. He was a member of the Santa Rosa Palomino Club and Quanah Masonic Lodge. He served as the Fire Chief for the Chillicothe Fire Department for 25 years, Chillicothe School Board, and City Council. He was a member of the Chillicothe Church of Christ.
Alton is survived by his daughters, Cheryl (Steven) Jones, of Amarillo, and Susan (John) Tomsu, of Jackson, MO. Brother Larry Hoke of Godley, TX, sister Linda Hoke King of Euless, TX. Grandchildren, Brian Horn, Bonnie (Horn) McCabe, Bradley Horn, Byron Horn, Chris Henry, Brent Henry, Lauren (Jones) Simpson, Ryan Tomsu, Cameron (Tomsu) Koehler, Cassidi (Tomsu) Collier, nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Linda, daughter Cathy (Hoke) Horn, sister Bobbie Smith, and a grandson Pleasant Jones.
Memorials can be made to favorite charity.
