Aucencio Castro Alvarez, 80 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, in Vernon, Texas.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 11:00 am at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Aucencio was born Tuesday, December 18, 1945, in Rayon, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He was the son of the late Esteban Alvarez Sanches and the late Elena Castro Juarez. He married Cyndia Carranza in February of 1981 in Tahoka, Texas. For thirty-three years he worked for Tyson Foods, starting when it was Wright Brand Foods. He previously worked to help build the Oklaunion Power Plant. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Aucencio is survived by his wife Cyndia Alvarez, five daughters, Laura Ruth Gonzales, Christina Alvarez, Juana Gamez, Marisol Gamez and Sandra Martinez, two sons, Aucencio Nicholas Alvarez and Jaime Alvarez, five brothers, Umberto, Efren, Ricardo, Inocente, and Esteban, and two sisters, Juventina and Maria. Aucencio also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
