Bettie was born December 4th, 1935 in Vernon, TX and deceased on March 31, 2024. She lived in Vernon all her life. She graduated from Vernon High School in 1954, Ranger Jr. College in 1956 and Midwestern State in 1969. She taught at Northside for 27 years and then substituted in Vernon Schools for 10 years.

Bettie was a long-time member of the Central Christian Church where she sang in the choir. A Charter member of Wilbarger General Hospital Auxiliary. Charter member of Red River Valley Museum Guild. Was president of Council of Arts for 5 years. An active member of Vernon Retired Teachers Association.

Survived by husband Don Lawson of Vernon, TX; Daughter & Son-in-law Randilyn & Dewayne Harrington of Throckmorton, TX; Son & Daughter-in-law Courtney & Tracy Harvey of Arlington, TX; Grandchildren Brittany & Adam Schneider of New Braunfels, TX, Casey & Madi Harvey of Fort Worth, TX, and Brady & Krystal Harvey of Mansfield, TX; Great Grandchildren Braxton Harvey, Calem Schneider, Blakley Harvey, & Henry Harvey. Nieces Rhonda Gordon and Tanya English of Vernon, TX. Nephew Rodney Smithson of Temple, TX, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents Herman & Nora Wilson, First husband Gordie Harvey, Sister Joann Myrick, Brother Dewayne Wilson, and Grandson Brandon Harrington.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 10:00 am at Central Christian Church with Rev. Jim Antwine officiating. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
