Betty Jo Canada, 93 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022, in Carrollton, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30, 2022 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church with Dr. Derrell Monday officiating. Interment will be in Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Betty was born Friday, July 5, 1929 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Milton "J.M." Maddox and the late Blanche Weir Maddox. She married Roy Canada in Tipton, Oklahoma on December 25, 1950.  Roy passed away on October 31, 2012. Betty graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with a degree in Education. She also received her Master's from Texas Tech University.  She retired from New Boston School District. Betty was a Special Education Teacher.  She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served in the choir and taught Sunday School.

Betty is survived by sons, William Britt Canada of Snyder, Texas, James Carey Canada of Grapevine, Texas, Roy Dean Canada of Carrollton, Texas, and Michael Kent Canada of Plano, Texas; daughter, Elizabeth Karel "Susie" Burkhart of Marietta, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Doug Manning of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; fifteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchild.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, J.M and Blanche Maddox, and her husband Roy Canada.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
