Obituary

Billie C Favors was born on April 14, 1938, to the union of Houston Waggoner, Sr. and Willie B. Bride. She was the third oldest of thirteen children and attended school in the Lockett Five-In-One Community.

Her siblings were Gladys Criss, Houston Waggoner, Jr., affectionately known as “Uncle Buddy”, Neal Perry, William Waggoner, Louis “L.B.” Waggoner, Marshall Waggoner of Wichita Falls, Paul Waggoner, Sr. of Kerrville, Texas, Lloyd Waggoner of Vernon, Texas, Jewell Singletary, Fred Waggoner, Lorraine Waggoner of Wichita Falls, and Patrick Waggoner of Fort Worth, Texas.

In 1953, she married L.D. Favors, Sr. Their union was blessed with eight children: Kenneth Favors (Gracie) of Vernon, L.D. “Larry” Favors, Jr. (Deidra) of Fort Worth, Erric Favors of Grand Prairie, Mitchell Favors of Austin, Keith Favors (Elaine) of Vernon, Monica Antoine of Lawton, Oklahoma, David Favors of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Darian Favors (Vickie) of Arlington.

Sister Favors worked at Wright’s Packing House, Vernon State Hospital, and as a private duty sitter at Woods Nursing Home. Her care for others extended beyond her work and into the community. She often fed neighborhood children and gave them haircuts, becoming lovingly known to many as “Aunt Ben”.

A lifelong member of Greater Hopewell Church of God in Christ in Vernon, Texas, Sister Favors deeply loved the Lord. She cherished going to the church each day for noon prayer. Later in life, she moved to Arlington, Texas, to live with her son Darian and attended Kingdom Life Community Church under his leadership.

An excellent cook, she expressed her love through meals prepared with care and the favorite desserts she baked for her children’s birthdays. Her children and grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she treasured the time she spent with them. Her faith remained a source of strength throughout her life. Even while enduring physical pain and the effects of dementia, she could often be heard saying, “I love the Lord, and I praise Him”. Those words reflected the faith and gratitude that remained deeply rooted in her heart.

On October 8, 2026, Billie C. Favors departed this life, leaving a legacy of prayer, generosity, service, and love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Houston Waggoner, Sr. and Willie B. Bride; and her siblings, Gladys Criss, Houston Waggoner, Jr., William Waggoner, Louis “L.B.” Waggoner, Fred Waggoner, and Jewell Singletary.

She leaves to cherish her memory her eight children; her remaining siblings; her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and friends.

Her family will forever remember her prayers, her cooking, her generosity, and her enduring declaration: “I love the Lord, and I praise Him”.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
