Obituary

Billye Lynn “Bunny” Schur, 68, of Vernon, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Bunny was born on September 22, 1957, in Abilene, Texas, to the late Bill Herrington and Barbara Flowers Herrington. She married the love of her life, Leonart “Lee” Schur, on February 9, 1985, in Fort Worth, Texas. Together, they built a life centered on family, education, athletics, and countless cherished memories.

Bunny was the ultimate coach’s wife and mother. She loved Friday night lights, Saturday afternoons watching the Horned Frogs, and, most of all, being wherever her family was. She could often be found in a stadium, a gym, or at a track meet supporting her children, her students, or cheering on her grandkids. Whether she was traveling with Lee to the track national championships in Oregon, taking trips to Ruidoso with the cousins, or heading to another stadium or gym, Bunny was happiest when she was with the people she loved.

Education was also an important part of Bunny’s life. She was a beloved teacher for more than 30 years, dedicating her career to her students and touching the lives of countless children and families. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom, and many of her students carried the lessons, encouragement, and love she gave them throughout their lives.

Above all, Bunny was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She had a gift for making her family feel loved, supported, and celebrated. To her grandchildren, she was “Meme,” her most cherished title. Her greatest joy was watching her family grow and being present for the moments, both big and small, that mattered most.

Bunny is survived by her husband, Lee Schur, of the home; her children, Lezli Cadenhead and her husband, Josh, of Fort Worth, Texas; Trey Schur and his wife, Lacey, of Vernon, Texas; and Grant Schur and his wife, Lyndsie, of Meridian, Texas; her sister, Heather Gaston; her brother-in-law, Steve Schur; her sister-in-law, Jane Schur; and her stepmother, Donna Herrington. She also leaves behind six grandchildren who were the light of her life: Garett Cadenhead, Rylee Cadenhead, Blythe Cadenhead, Everlee Schur, Kynlee Schur, and Ross Schur.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Herrington and Barbara Flowers Herrington.
