Bobby Joe Wakefield, 92 passed away in Crowell, Texas, Monday, July 29, 2024, Born on December 31, 1931 in Chillicothe, Texas, to his parents, Leslie L. Wakefield and Nannie  Wakefield.

Bobby was born and raised in Chillicothe during the depression and helped his father provide for the family. Even though times were difficult, he and his family had a good life and a lot of good memories.

His very first job was running the Chillicothe picture show which he loved. He could tell you anything and everything about a movie down to the smallest detail. Later in life he became an avid collector of all film genres.

He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle through the streets of Chillicothe. When he was younger, he was known for having the loud Harley Davidson motorcycle. Many of the Chillicothe residents knew it was Bobby and would say, "Here comes that Wakefield boy". He also loved fishing as well, and would spend lots of time down by the creek or lake trying to catch a big catfish.

At a young age he also loved driving trucks and started driving throughout Texas. Bobby met his wife Judy in Pampa, Texas, and they were married August 19, 1966.

Bobby and Judy later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where Bobby attended welding school. After spending several years in Oklahoma, they moved to Vernon where he worked for Buck's Welding Shop for many years. He later went on to drive a truck for J B Hunt for over twenty years. He was able to travel all fifty states including Canada, and was awarded the Million Mile Driver Award from J B Hunt. He also attended the First Assembly of God church for over thirty years.

Bobby is survived by his son, Bobby Joe Wakefield, Jr. of El Reno, Oklahoma; his daughter, Leslie Wakefield Miller of Auburn, Maine; his son, Joe David Wakefield & wife Mindy of Grove City, Ohio; four grandchildren, Clinton Shane, Beth, Alysa, and Joe; four great grandsons; one sibling, Delorse Bice & husband Floyd, and two step daughters, Brenda Spencer of Vernon, Texas and Ina Mae Quintero of Lubbock, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his wife of fifty four years, Judy R. Wakefield; his daughter, Loretta Wakefield Sheppard & son-in-law John Sheppard; his parents, Leslie & Nannie Wakefield; his in-laws, Don & Lois Brown; siblings, Cleta Bailey, Pearl Smith, and Louise Pennington; daughter-in-law, Jean Wakefield; step son, Steve London, and step daughter, Linda Rushing.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 2, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Weitner officiating. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
