Carl Alford Zipperle, 99 of Wilbarger County, Texas passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, in Electra, Texas.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Brummett officiating. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Carl was born Friday, April 29, 1927, in Oklaunion, Texas. He was the son of the late Fritz Zipperle and the late Alice Phillips Zipperle. He married Vera Mae Schwede June 29, 1953, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a member of the U.S. Army and served in World War II in Japan in the 7th Calvary Regiment. He worked as a farmer and rancher all his life. If anything broke, he could fix it. He enjoyed working on his Model T and Model A, and he was a member of the Lawton Antique Car Club. Carl loved the Summer’s Last Blast Cruise, and he also enjoyed the Santa Rosa Rodeo Parade. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Carl is survived by his wife, Vera Mae Zipperle, two daughters, Vera Tidwell & husband Joe of Levelland, Texas and Anita Miller & husband Paul of Vernon, Texas, one sister, Rosie Zipperle Hart of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and one son-in-law, Arthur Mason of Vernon, Texas. Carl also leaves behind nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Carl is preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Mason on February 4, 2022, two brothers, Fred Zipperle, Jr. and William Zipperle, and two sisters, Pauline Ballard and Sarah Waldafelt.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.

His nickname as a child was Spare rib!

Fred Sr bought at Model T in 1923, in 1924 he married the love of his life Alice. They went on their honeymoon in the car to Colorado. When Carl and Fred Jr were teenagers they took off the body of the car and used the frame to make a trailer. In Carls 60s he rebuilt the model T out of the trailer again! He was able to give his mother Alice a ride in it before she died.

He loved to drive the model T in multiple car shows and parades!!

He was always the joker! Carl and Fred jr slept in a shack in their childhood. Their father would go out there to wake them up, even using water. But one day they put a bucket of water on the door and the bucket of water dumped on their father’s head!!And when he turned around to go back to the house, the boys scurried out of the shack fully clothed.
