Obituary

Carlos Jose Ayala, 52 of Chillicothe, Texas passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, in Vernon, Texas.

Mass services will be held Friday, June 23, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church in Vernon, Texas, with Father Phil Petta officiating. Burial will be scheduled at a later date at Fort Hood Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.

Carlos was born Wednesday, November 4, 1970, in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. He was the son of the late Carmello Ayala and Carmen Figueroa Ayala.

Carlos served in the U.S. Army, and he worked for Child Protective Services in Altus, Oklahoma.

Carlos is survived by his significant other, Misti Knowles of the home; his mother, Carmen Ayala of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one daughter, Keanna Gonzales & husband Andrew of Stephenville, Texas; one brother, Kenneth Estrella of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Enid Ayala of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Ivette Chavez & husband Abe of Moriarty, New Mexico; two step-sons, Jake Knowles of Lubbock, Texas, and Blayne Horn of Wichita Falls, Texas, and one step-daughter, Ryan Knowles of Lubbock, Texas. Carlos also leaves behind three grandchildren, Oaklyn Gonzales, Camryn Gonzales, and Junior Gonzales.

Carlos is preceded in death by his father and his wife, Christi Ayala.

Rosary and Visitation will be Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel in Vernon, Texas.
