Cecil Don Goins, 75 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024, in Vernon, Texas.

Funeral services will be scheduled at a later date.

Don was born Thursday, November 11, 1948, in Vernon, Texas. He was the son of the late Cecil Clay "Rip" Goins and the late Lillian Lucille Mason Goins. He married Kathryne Hasselvander on January 4, 1989, in Altus, Oklahoma. He was a graduate of Northside High School and Midwestern State University where he was on the Dean's List. He was in the United States Air Force from 1969 – 1972. He serviced in Vietnam as a gunner on an AC130 Gunship. Don was a licensed Social Worker for the Adult Protective Agency for twenty years in which he only missed two days of work. He delivered Meals on Wheels, and he was a member of the Fargo Church of Christ.

Don is survived by his wife Kathryne Goins of the home and four stepchildren, Joe O'Neal & wife Barbara of Vernon, Texas, Johnny Gail "Sissy" O'Neal & husband Wayne of Odessa, Texas, James Clayton O'Neal & wife Leah of Clifton, Texas, and Jacob O'Neal & wife Callie of Vernon, Texas. Don also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and lifetime friends, Ronnie & Ann Wilson.

Don is preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Goins and George Goins.
