Cecilio Gauna Guerra, Jr., 84 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, in Vernon, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 10:00 am at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jordan Guerra Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Tolbert Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Cecilio was born Wednesday, July 31, 1940, in Hildalgo, Mexico. He was the son of the late Cecilio Guerra, Sr. and the late Jesusita Gauna Guerra. He married Esperanza Lira on July 30, 1964, in Arapaho, Oklahoma. He was a farmer and rancher. He worked for the Waggoner Ranch and Wright Brand Foods. He enjoyed raising cattle, playing guitar, and slowly driving around on country roads.

Cecilio is survived by his wife Esperanza Guerra of the home; two sons, Cecilio Guerra, III & wife Randa of Amarillo, Texas and Gabriel Guerra & wife Jill of Tolbert, Texas, and two daughters, Sylvia Moreno of Vernon, Texas and Aida Turkett & husband Terry of Vernon, Texas. Cecilio also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Cecilio is preceded in death by his parent, Jesusita & Cecilio Guerra, Sr.; his sons, Robert Guerra and Alex Guerra; his daughter, Teresa Guerra; his brother, Benito Guerra, and his sisters, Esperanza Escamilla, Ophelia Ferria and Elsa Calvillo.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
