Charles Dale Snyder, 78, of Vernon, Texas, entered his heavenly home on September 19, 2025, his beautiful voice lifted in a glorious song of praise as he went to be with the Lord.

Born on November 4, 1946, in Vernon, Charles grew up in the town he always called home and attended school there. At the age of 17, he began a proud military career, serving his country in both the National Guard and the United States Army from 1963 until 1977. His dedication to duty and steadfast spirit were a source of inspiration to all who knew him.

Charles was a master with wood and hammer, finding true joy in the art of carpentry. Charles's hands told stories of their own. Working alongside the "Snyder men", he built more than houses—he built memories. Every nail and beam could tell the stories. These same calloused hands had a soft, gentle touch for animals. He was known for carrying on long conversations with his dogs: Rue, Chancy, and Doc.

In 1984, Charles married Estella Jo Vaughn, and together they raised three beloved children: Kelly, Reena, and Misti. Charles and Estella both loved music. Their home was filled with music because of a father who literally recited song lyrics to explain a simple daily task. After Estella's passing in 2011, Charles married Marie Ledford in 2014, sharing with her a companionship that brought comfort to his later years.

Charles will be remembered for his gentle ways and his deep faith, his love of singing, and the way his voice carried the hope of eternity. Friends and family take comfort in knowing that as his earthly song ended his heavenly one began—strong and sure.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Alta Snyder; one brother, Donald Max Snyder and sister-in-law Frankie; and a precious granddaughter, Jamie Rae Abrams.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Ledford Snyder; his children, Kelly Abrams and wife Kerri of Tipton, OK; Reena Abrams Daszczuk of Mead, OK, Misti Tyler and husband Michael of Anadarko, OK; Leonard Ledford of Indiahoma, OK; Juanell Webster of Indiahoma, OK; and Tim Ledford of Aledo, TX; grandchildren: Dustin Abrams, Jody Bullard, Matraca Abrams, Gracie Abrams, Taegan Abrams, Wyatt Abrams, Dawn Daszczuk, Blake Daszczuk, Ryan Tyler, Zane Tyler, Tarrin Tyler, Talan Tyler, JW Webster, Chris Webster, Crystal Zurenda, Taylor Ledford, and Clyde Ledford, numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

A celebration of Charles's life will be held in Vernon, Texas, where his story began and where his legacy of love, service, and song will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Services will be Friday, September 26, 2025, at 11:00 am at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Les Banks and Bro. Dan Coffin officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday, September 26, 2025, at Sullivan Funeral Home from 10:00 am until services begin.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the nursing staff at Advanced Rehabilitation of Vernon and Hospice of Wichita Falls for the love shown to our husband, Dad, PaPaw, and uncle during some of the most challenging days he faced on this earth.
