Charles Stanley "Stan" Ripley, 85 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Vernon with Dr. Darrell Monday and Mr. Mike Klappenbach officiating. Burial will follow at Frederick Cemetery in Frederick, Oklahoma under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Stan was born Thursday, February 15, 1940, in Tillman County, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Jim Ripley and the late Mildred Varenhorst Ripley. He married Claudine Williamson on June 24, 1970, in Vernon, Texas.
He received his bachelor's degree in physics from Oklahoma State University and went on to receive his master's degree from East Texas State University. Stan was the fifth person in Texas to be certified to teach Computer Science. He taught for Vernon ISD from 1968 until 1974 and then sold insurance for Farmers Union. He taught math, science, and computer classes at Harrold ISD beginning in 1980. He retired from Quanah ISD in 2001 where he taught math. Stan loved to fish, and he was the president and treasurer of the Vernon Bass Club. He was also a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was on numerous church committees.
Stan is survived by his son, Scott Ripley of Vernon, Texas, and his daughter, Anna "Lenell" Ripley of Austin, Texas. Stan also leaves behind his grandson, Keenan Ripley, and his nephew, Craig Ripley.
Stan is preceded in death by his wife, Claudine Ripley, and his brother, Jimmy Ripley.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Vernon, Texas or Wilbarger County Humane Society.
