Christopher David Baker, 76 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022, in Vernon, Texas.

Chris was born on December 12, 1946 in Vernon, Texas.  He was the son of the late Sherman Baker and the late Katherine Christopher Baker.  He married Penny Combest on December 17, 1977 in Dan Point, California. Chris was stationed in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army as part of the 48 ^th Infantry and the 82 ^nd Air Borne. He was also a member of the Texas National Guard, F-4. He was a member of the Local Chapter #230 of the Pipefitters Union for over 55 years. He retired as General Manager of San Onfre Nuclear Power Plant in California before moving back to Vernon, Texas in 1995. He worked for Arco, PPG, and Certinteed.  He retired again in 2017.

Chris is survived by his wife, Penny Baker of the home; son, Daron Lee Raines of Vernon, Texas; grandchildren, Amanda Raines, Austin Mitchell, Lindsey Mitchell, Jasamin Raines, Colton Cline, and Natalie Lloyd; great-grandson, Dalton.

Chris is preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Katherine Baker; son Dee Raines in November of 2019; daughter, Christy Baker in November of 2020.
