Obituary

Clyde Daniel Conway, 83 of Vernon, Texas died on Sunday, November 27, 2022, in Vernon, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Derrell Monday and Mr. Mike Klappenbach officiating. Interment will be at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Clyde was born on Monday, February 6, 1939 in Lockett, Texas. He was the son of the late Eldrid Conway and the late Ruby Roberts Conway.  He married Mary Ann Martin on November 7, 1959 in Vernon, Texas.  Mary Ann passed away on February 26, 2020. Clyde was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church in Vernon. He was very active in the community. He served on the Vernon board of the  North Texas State Hospital Volunteer Services Council and helped run their Hidden Treasures Thrift and Consignment Store. For many years Clyde was known as 'The Rabbit Man', raising many award winning 4H and show rabbits.

Clyde is survived by two sons, Ricky Conway & wife Margie of Georgia, and Danny Conway & wife Cheryl of Georgia; two daughters, Lea Ann Skinner of Vernon, TX, and Chrissie Straley & husband Dave of Kentucky: sister, Ruth Kendrick. Grandchildren, Renee Driscoll of Houston, Texas; Daniel Conway and wife Amanda of Monticello, Georgia; Ashley Campbell and wife Tiffany of Chicago, Illinois; Chad Conway of Newnan, Georgia; Heather Duke and husband Steve of Pine Mountain, Georgia; Kris Pilcher of Atlanta, Georgia; Scott Straley and wife Perri of Celina, Texas and Ty King of Wichita Falls, Texas.  Great-Grandchildren, Hannah and Berlyn Driscoll; Drake, Cale and Blayne Conway; Paxton and Ryker Campbell; Olivia, Matthew and Hayley Duke.

Clyde is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Conway; parents, Eldrid & Ruby Conway, and two brothers, Lyndon Conway and Norman Conway.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
