Gene Obenhaus passed from this earth to his heavenly home on July 10, 2025, following a lengthy illness in Vernon, TX. He was born to the late Curtis Ray Obenhaus and Doris Obenhaus on October 9, 1955, in Vernon, Texas. He married Deborah Obenhaus on December 6, 1974, who proceeded him in death on June 21, 2014. Together they had one son, Bradley Gene Obenhaus. He later married Lisa Obenhaus on September 7, 2019.

Gene worked as a research technician and Farm Foreman at Texas A&M Research Center in Chillicothe, Texas. He was a graduate of Chillicothe High School. He enjoyed raising Polled Hereford cattle with his son and family early in life and spending time with his wife Lisa and grandchildren. He was a member of Lakeview Church in Vernon, TX where he loved serving the Lord through grilling and welcoming anyone who walked through the church doors.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Obenhaus of Vernon, son Brad Obenhaus of Marble Falls, daughters Kalei Heath of Temple, Lealanei Yohre of Cave Creek, AZ, and Annaka Alvarez of Glendale, AZ; 7 grandchildren Robert, Gracie, Kurt, Keith, Harlei, Mylie, Kylian, and two sisters Vickie Cantrell and Melanie Obenhaus of Wylie, TX, along with many other friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given is his memory to Lakeview Church and Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 17 at Sullivan Funeral Home in Vernon, TX from 6-7 pm. Services will be held at Lakeview Church on Friday, July 18 at 10:00 am with Clint Loggins officiating, followed by interment at Chillicothe Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
