Daniel "Danny" Neal Slappey, 73 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026, in Vernon, Texas.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday September 15, 2026, at 10:30am at Wilbarger Memorial Park with Rev. Anthony Inman officiating under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

 Danny was born Monday, June 1, 1953, in Memphis Texas to the late Jack Tom Slappey and Mary Dru McCollum Slappey. Danny was a graduate of Vernon High School Class of 1971, and a graduate of Texas A& M with a degree in Sociology in 1975. Danny married Mary Laura Brown on December 23,1978 in Electra Texas. Danny retired from the Vernon State Hospital after thirty plus years as a Social Worker for the State of Texas. Danny loved to play golf, and cards and was pool shark when it came to playing pool. Danny was a Methodist.

Danny leaves behind his wife Mary Laura Slappey, his mother Mary D Slappey, one brother Tommy Slappey, two nieces Stephanie and Rebecca Slappey along with eight great nieces and nephews.

Danny is proceeded in death by his father Jack Tom Slappey and his grandparents.

Visitation will be held at the Hillcrest Country Club, of Vernon after the funeral service for Danny.

Memorials can be made to the Wilbarger Humane Society.
