Daniel Leonard Spears passed away at his home in Dallas, Texas, on February 16, 2026.

Dan was born on August 29, 1972, to Keith and Sherry Spears of Vernon, Texas. After graduating from Vernon High School in 1991, Dan then attended the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, receiving a degree in finance in 1995. He began his investment banking career working for Solomon Smith Barney in New York City. After the events of 9/11 he moved to Texas where he continued to work in the oil and gas energy sector.

Dan was a devoted father and volunteered to announce middle school football games when his sons were in school. He also coached elementary school basketball for his children. A passion for hunting, fishing and hiking was instilled in his children and they took many trips learning new skills, appreciating nature and being good stewards of the land.

Dan is survived by his children Jillian, Garrett, Matthew, and Beckett Spears of Dallas, his parents, his brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Melinda Spears of Vernon, niece and nephew Julia and Colin Spears and his aunt, Carole Tucker.

A family graveside service was held at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home with Denise Sanders of Grace Episcopal church officiating.
