Obituary

Delmer Leon Nava, 85 of Vernon, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in Vernon, Texas.

Delmer was born Wednesday, May 22, 1940, in Elmore City, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Joe Nava and the late Edna McCurley Nava. He married Helen Lagunas on February 15, 1970, in Vernon, Texas. Delmer worked for the city of Vernon in the Parks Department, Wilbarger General Hospital as a landscaper, and for Louie Deal Moving. He also worked for the Waggoner Ranch as a ranch hand and as a mechanic at Greasy Wilson's. He enjoyed Halloween, pitching horseshoes, listening to old country music, and John Deere tractors. He also loved to go fishing, playing dominoes, Dr. Pepper, and Doritos. Most of all, Delmer loved his grandchildren.

Delmer is survived by one daughter, Regina Nava (Brandy) of Vernon, Texas, three sons, Kacal Maldonado (Lee Ann), Chano Maldonado (April) and David Maldonado (Dena) all of Vernon, Texas, two brothers, Bobby Nava of Vernon, Texas and Ricky Nava of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and two sisters, Thelma Jackson of Weatherford, Texas and Beaulah Rodriquez of Vernon, Texas. Delmer also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Delmer is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Nava on May 11, 2013, his grandson, Slade Maldonado on June 7, 2023, and his son, Jesse Maldonado on December 6, 2024.

Viewing for Delmer will be Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
