Don Chism, 76 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in Vernon, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 10:00 am at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Tim Beazley and Mr. Harlen Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Don was born Wednesday, February 2, 1949, in Crowell, Texas. He was the son of the late Kirby W. Chism and the late Virginia Thomas Chism. He married Becky Moses on July 12, 1969, in Vernon, Texas. Don worked at Rolling Plains Implement Company, and along with his brothers, he owned and operated Chism South Main Automotive. He enjoyed rock climbing at Monkey Creek and at the Copper Mines. He also cooked the best catfish around. Don especially loved taking his grandchildren fishing and camping.
Don is survived by his wife, Becky Chism of the home, one son, Dusty Chism of Vernon, Texas, three daughters, Tonya Smith & husband Terry of Vernon, Texas, Tara Shaw & husband Aaron of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Tammy Chism-Daniel & husband Glynn of Chillicothe, Texas, his mother-in-law, Betty Livingston of Vernon, Texas, thirteen grandchildren, Brittany Faulkner & Troy Perkins, Justin & Karlee Faulkner, Saradon & Colum Reese, Derek Daniel, Petty Officer 2nd Class U.S. Navy Wesley Daniel, Curtis & Corrie Chism, Calyn Chism, Fox James & Lily, Bekah & Jacob Kunz, Senior Airman U.S. Air Force Tylor & Gianna Chism, Ethan Shaw, Aaralynn Shaw, and Asher Shaw, seven great grandchildren, Crue, Harper, Hayden, Keanu, Kross, Suttyn, and Lennon, and two great grandchildren on the way. Don also leaves behind one brother, Curtis & Cecelia Chism, one sister, Betty Moses, and several nieces and nephews.
Don is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Grammer, two sisters, Patsy McQuarter and Juanita Cape, and his brother-in-law, Dale Moses.
Visitation will be Monday, December 8, 2025, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home
