Don L. Lewis, 81 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 3, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Toby Castleberry officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Don was born Friday, February 11, 1944, in Quitaque, Texas to the late Fred Smith and the late Naomi Shorter Barnett. He married Sylvia Jean Green on January 26, 1963, in Flomot, Texas. Don worked as a carpenter and owned and operated Don Lewis Construction Company. He was member of the Vernon Riding Club, and he raised Paint Horses. He was a simple man who worked hard for his family, for God, and he enjoyed taking care of his family and his horses. He loved to go fishing, especially with his kids and grandkids. Don was proud of the work that he did building homes for others to love. He was proud to be able to contract and build two churches, Calvary Baptist and the Cowboy Church. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Don is survived by one son, Daren Lewis & wife Tiffany of Vernon, Texas, two daughters, Tammi Keyser and Kalyn Bailey & husband Grant both of Vernon, Texas, and one sister, Betty Merritt of Crowley, Texas. Don also leaves behind six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Don is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Lewis, his brothers, Larry, Bill and Jack, his sister, Carolyn, his grandson, Seth Lewis, and his great granddaughter, Addison Bailey.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls or Calvary Baptist Church.
