Obituary

Donald "Don" Bruce Walser, 83 of Chillicothe, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025, in Quanah, Texas.

Don was an avid sports fan, and the bleachers at Chillicothe High School will surely miss his familiar presence. He faithfully cheered on the Eagles and took pride in supporting local youth. A devoted Papaw to his girls and, later, his great-grandsons, Don's greatest joy was watching them grow and succeed.

He served for many years as president of the Chillicothe Ex-Students Association, where he worked to keep the community connected. Don was also a strong supporter of youth agriculture projects, always encouraging the next generation to take pride in their hard work and accomplishments.

Most mornings, you could find him at the cafe, sharing good coffee and better conversations with his friends. His easy smile, steady friendship, and love for his hometown will be deeply missed.

Don was born January 6, 1942, in Medicine Mound, Texas. He was the son of the late Escol Walser and the late Erma Furgeson Walser. He married Colleen Short Lankford on September 3, 1992, in Chillicothe, Texas. Don was a farmer, and he served in the United States Army. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chillicothe.

Don is survived by two stepdaughters, Darcie Lankford and Sandie Haynes, and four grandchildren, Mikka Lankford, Angie Taylor, Amy Thompson, and Emily Taylor. Don also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Jordon Taylor and Wesley Thompson.

Don is preceded in death by his wife, Colleen Walser, and his son, Marcus Walser.

In keeping with Don's wishes, no formal service will be held. The family appreciates your love and prayers during this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Chillicothe Stock Show Association in Don's memory.
