Dorothy Faye McCoy, 89, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, in Vernon, Texas.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Dorothy was born Thursday, September 26, 1935, in Honey Grove, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Bynum Newton and the late Bertha Collins Newton. She married Floyd L. McCoy on September 4, 1982, in Vernon, Texas. Dorothy worked for Blue Bonnet Laundry, and then she retired from the North Texas State Hospital. She was known as the "cake lady" for making cakes and pies for all of Vernon. She attended Calvary Baptist Church.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Jim Cameron & wife Lanell of Vernon, Texas, her stepdaughter, Sandra Hickey & husband Jimmy of Temple, Texas, and her brother, Albert Newton of Vernon, Texas. Dorothy also leaves behind her granddaughter, Lynn Dennis and two great grandchildren, Ronna and Lyndsey.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd McCoy, her sons, James Cameron and David Cameron, her brothers, Clinton Newton, Larry Newton and Ulyess Newton, and her sisters, Margaret and Stella.
