Ernest "Ray" Aydelott passed away Monday morning, December 15, 2025, at his home in Crowell.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Crowell. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Interment will follow the funeral at Crowell Cemetery.

Ray was born December 29, 1944, in Crowell, Texas, to Harvey and Lois Black Aydelott. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam conflict. On January 22, 1972, he married the love of his life, Elaine Jackson, and together they built a life rooted in family and hard work.

Ray spent many years working for the Co-op Elevator before retiring. He was also a farmer and worked for the Highway Department and the Railroad. Known for his strong work ethic, Ray believed in providing for his family and doing an honest day's work. In his free time, he loved to fish, sing, and most of all, spend time with his family. He was especially proud of his role as a great-grandfather and was known as an "awesome great grandpa" by those who loved him most.

Ray is survived by his wife, Elaine Aydelott of Crowell; children, Ron Aydelott and wife JoAnna of Little Elm, Don Aydelott and wife Rhonda of Vernon, Brandi Moore and husband Brian of Little Elm, and Kelley Aydelott of Vernon; grandchildren, Victoria, Donavon, Rachel, Rebecca, Tiffany, and Jackson; six great-grandchildren; brother, Roy Lee Aydelott and wife Pat of Crowell; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Lois Aydelott, and his sister, Carolyn Sue Monkres.
