Ernest  Jay Craighead, 59 of Vernon, Texas died on Monday, June 20, 2022, in Vernon, Texas.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.

Jay was born Tuesday, May 7, 1963 in Altus, Oklahoma.  He was the son of  Carl H. Craighead and  the late Nancy Green  Craighead. He was a graduate of Booker High School and had an Associate's  Degree from Vernon College. He was a graduate of Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, and he worked in the funeral business in several Texas cities, lastly in Andrews, Texas. He also worked in the oil field for many years. He was a certified Health Coach for Optavia.

Jay is survived by his father Carl H. Craighead of Vernon, Texas, his brother, Steve Craighead of Vernon, TX, sister, Drucilla Cockrell of Higgins, TX. and his Fiancés  Lynette Banks of Vernon, Texas. Five nephews; Chase Craighead, Caul Craighead, Clint Cockrell, Clay Cockrell and Ty Cockrell

He is preceded in death by his mother Nancy Craighead on April 22, 1999.

Memorials can be made to Nancy Craighead Scholarship Fund at Vernon College.
