Frances Laverne Newton, 68 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 26, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Russell McCurley officiating.

Laverne was born Monday, August 16, 1954 in Vernon, Texas. She was the daughter to the late Furnie Carl Sitz and the late Dorothy Margaret Chestnut Sitz.  She married Joe Newton in 1969 in Vernon, Texas, and then later married J.B. Bara. Laverne was also a wonderful caregiver to J.B. until his passing. She worked in Vernon Cafeterias, at Coy's Food Store, and at Joe's Chevron. Laverne always lived life to the fullest. She loved music and loved to dance.  She also enjoyed baking pies and cakes.

Laverne is survived by her son, Tim Newton & wife Michelle of Vernon, Texas; two daughters, Jo Ann Newton of Vernon, Texas and Cassie Newton & husband Stephen Hill of Missouri; sister, Kathy Sitz of Wichita Falls, Texas; six grandchildren, Nick Newton, Clint Newton, Brad Newton, Joey Newton, Sam Newton, and Austin Hill; eight great grandchildren, Dalton Kymer, Iris Kymer, Jackson Kelly, Malachi Kelly, Tristan McNary, Lucas McNary, Elijah Grimes, and Gracie Grimes.  Laverne also leaves behind the Bara Family.

Laverne is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, J.B. Bara, and her sister, Evelyn Sitz.
