Fred Collier Conkling, 90 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, in Vernon, Texas.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 2:00 pm at First Methodist Church with Rev. Anthony Inman officiating.  Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Fred was born Wednesday, February 10, 1933 in Norman, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Walter Conkling and the late Ola Conkling. He married Sandra Arrington  on May 5, 1964 in Vernon, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea where he worked in supply. Fred was the owner and operator of Conkling Jewelry for many, many years. He was a member of First Methodist Church.

Fred is survived by his wife, Sandra Conkling of the home; son, Russell Conkling of Vernon, Texas; brothers, Kenneth Conkling of McKinney, Texas and Billy Conkling of Oklahoma; sister, Betty Parks of Wichita Falls, Texas; grandchildren, Kendall Lacy of Wichita falls, Texas, Chanie Conkling of Vernon, Texas, and Caydence Conkling of Vernon, Texas. Fred also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Fred is preceded in death by his daughter, Cathie Elaine Bristo on April 28, 2022; four brothers, John, James, Jerry, and Charles Conkling; one sister, Margaret Kear.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
