Obituary

Genevia Louise Redick, Louise to all her friends, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025. She was 87.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Brummett officiating.

Louise was born in Chillicothe, Texas, and was originally a Lance. She was happy to tell everyone her family had a road named after them in Chillicothe. She had many fond memories of her time on the farm including getting up with the chickens, feeding the many animals, and going to the movies on the weekend.

One of the places Louise worked was the old Pants Factory in Vernon. She spent many hours there and created friendships along the way, much like she did to her last days.

One of the things most precious to her was her church family. She and her husband James attended Peace Lutheran Church until it closed and then she became a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed serving the Lord and being active in her community. She especially cherished the rides to church with her group of friends on Sundays.

She was close with Helen McKay and enjoyed their daily phone calls. She was also loved at the Wilbarger Humane Society, where she spent her afternoons. They will miss her presence very much.

She loved animals, especially her five cats at home and all the animals at the shelter, especially the cat Chuck Taylor and Astro the rooster. She never let the staff forget treat time in the afternoons and the animals appreciated that very much. She loved surgery days when she got to see everyone's pets and attending adoption events. She would often tell potential adopters how beautiful the animals were that were up there waiting for their forever homes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James and her parents Thomas & Thema Lance.

She was loved by many friends and although she was the last of her family she will be missed greatly.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Sullivan Funeral Home from 1:00 pm until graveside services begin.

Memorials may be made to the Wilbarger Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
