Georgia Souris, age 102, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, at Mayberry Assisted Living in Grand Prairie, Texas. Born August 8, 1924, she lived a remarkable life of more than a century. She remained intellectually curious throughout her life, and in her later years, that curiosity led her to explore nutrition and healthy living.

Georgia was the proud daughter of Minas and Vasiliki, who immigrated from Kythira, Greece, to Dallas, Texas. They instilled in her a deep appreciation for family, faith, and friendship, along with a lifelong love of the Greek language and traditions. Though she never visited Greece, her Greek heritage remained a cherished part of her life.

Georgia graduated from Southern Methodist University (SMU) and later worked as a schoolteacher, a profession she loved. On June 30, 1957, Georgia married her beloved husband, James “Jim” Souris. That same year, they moved to Vernon, Texas, where they made their home and became part of the community. They shared 49 years of marriage until Jim’s passing in 2006. Following his passing, Georgia moved to Grand Prairie, Texas, to be closer to family and friends.

Georgia will be remembered for her grace, her sharp mind, and the warmth she brought to everyone who knew her. She remained curious and engaged until her final days, always discussing, learning, and eager to discover something new. Thoughtful and considerate of others, she rarely complained and never wanted to be a burden. Her legacy lives on through the family and friends she loved so dearly and cared for deeply. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, Texas. Viewing begins at 09:00 a.m. followed by the Trisagion (prayer service) at 09:30 a.m. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Eastview Cemetery located at 8271 CR 105 South Vernon, Texas, under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home, 1801 Houston St, Vernon, TX 76384.
