Gloria Collier, 85 of Vernon, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, in Vernon, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Wilbarger Street Church of Christ with Mr. Timothy Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Gloria was born Monday, July 25, 1938, in Hawley, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Perry  Haywood Smithwick and the late Mazel Elizabeth Donnelly Smithwick. She married Jimmie F. Collier  on January 20, 1957 in Vernon, Texas. Gloria graduated from Lockett High School in 1956. She also graduated from Vernon Regional Junior College School of Nursing in 1985. She worked as a nurse at Vernon State Hospital and Merrill Gardens Assisted Living. She was an avid jigsaw puzzler and crafter. She was also an expert seamstress for her children and grandchildren. Gloria was a member of Wilbarger Street Church of Christ where she also worked in the Benevolence Building.

Gloria is survived by her husband, Jimmie F. Collier of the home; one son, Jimmie Dale Collier, one daughter, Donna Prince & husband Randy; five grandchildren, Bradley Collier & wife Karina, Nicole Collier, Bud Collier, Dustin Prince & wife Ana, Tarin Prince Mulkey & husband Brian, and seven great grandchildren, Rylee Collier, Luke Collier, Alba Prince, Ada Prince, Brynley Mulkey, Mazelyn Mulkey, and Maxen Mulkey. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Sandra Smithwick, Mary Bryant, and Nita Carolyn Byers.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Aubrey Smithwick, and her sister Barbara Killian.

Visitation is Tuesday, January 16, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
