Gloria Boyd Gaines, 63, of Vernon, Texas, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in Vernon, Texas.

Memorial services will be held Friday, November 7, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Quinton Porter and Mr. Terry Boyd officiating.

Gloria was born on August 13, 1962, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Mary Boyd and Talmadge Bryant. She was raised in Altus, Oklahoma, surrounded by the love of her five older siblings and one younger sibling.

At a young age, Gloria gave her life to the Lord, beginning a lifelong journey of faith and service. At just sixteen, she began her career at Jackson County Memorial Hospital as a Certified Nurse Assistant, demonstrating her compassion and dedication to helping others.

In 1987, Gloria married the late Bennie Gaines and moved to Vernon, Texas, where she embraced her new role as a wife and stepmother to three young daughters. She became a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church in Vernon, Texas, where she faithfully served and found joy in her church family.

Gloria worked for North Texas State Hospital for an impressive 42 years before retiring. In her well-deserved retirement, she filled her days with the people and activities she loved most — spending time with family and friends, especially her beloved grandchildren; volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club; serving on the usher board as one of the mothers of the church; and enjoying a good game of bingo.

Gloria was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Boyd; her father, Talmadge Bryant; her husband, Bennie Gaines; and her stepdaughter, Tamara (Shanae) Favors.

She leaves to cherish her memory two stepdaughters, Tyler Johnson of Vernon, Texas, and Tashanna Gaines of Houston, Texas; six siblings — Bobbie Griffin of Altus, Oklahoma; Marie Holland of Altus, Oklahoma; Charles (Deborah) Boyd of Dayton, Ohio; Sally (Larry) Wiggins

of Altus, Oklahoma; Thressie Wright of Fort Worth, Texas; and Terry (Glenda) Boyd of Lawton, Oklahoma. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will all remember her warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith.
