Obituary

Gregory Dean Byars, 73, of Vernon, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, in Vernon, Texas.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Mike Klappenbach and Rev. Ric Rosalez officiating.  Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Greg was born Friday, September 30, 1949 in Vernon, Texas. He was the son of the late Dean Byars and the late Keta Bell Byars. He married Linda Jean Carter in 1969 in Vernon, Texas.  Linda passed away March 27, 2002. Greg was a farmer all his life. He was a member of the Santa Rosa Palomino Club. At one time there were three generations of Byars men serving at the same time as members of the Santa Rosa Palomino Club, Greg's grandfather, Mack Byars, Greg's father, Dean Byars, and himself.  He was also an active member of the Haney House. He was a member of WIlbarger Street Church of Christ.

Greg is survived by his longtime companion, Terri Weaver of Vernon, Texas; one son, Beau Byars & wife Trish of Windthorst, Texas; three daughters, Stephanie Byars, Heather Smith, and Jennifer Bunch & husband Russell, all of Vernon, Texas, and one sister, Gail Balser of Vernon, Texas. Greg also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Ky, Stran, Carter, Griffin, Jett, Tyler, and Marleigh, and one great grandson, Ellis.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to American Heart Association.
