Harlan “Butch” Naylor, 81 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, in Crowell, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home with Dr. Martin Knox and Dr. Derrell Monday officiating.
Butch was born Wednesday, July 12, 1944, in Baylor County, Texas. He was the son of the late Harlan Naylor and the late Alma Robertson Naylor. He married Madeline Gambrell on September 18, 1964, at Madeline’s parent’s home in Seymour, Texas. Butch was a 1964 graduate of Seymour High School. He was a Special Agent for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission from 1972 until retiring in 2003. After retirement he worked as a substitute teacher at Vernon High School until 2011. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over fifty years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was also a member of the Carl James Sunday School Class aka the Renegades. He loved to hunt, fish, and eat. He was also a very good leather craftsman and an excellent marksman. Butch was a devoted husband, proud dad, and a doting Papa to Hannah, Madeline, Haylea, and Baxter.
Butch is survived by his wife, Madeline Naylor of the home, and two sons, Edward Carrol Naylor & wife Henri of Wichita Falls, Texas and Steven Maurice Naylor & wife Shawna of Edmond, Oklahoma. Butch also leaves behind his four grandchildren, Madeline Naylor, Haylea Naylor, Baxter Naylor, and Hannah Naylor-Zahoor & husband Samud.
Butch is preceded in death by his parent, Harlan & Alma Naylor, and his sisters, Shirley Graves and Janis Graves.
Visitation will be Friday, May 8, 2026, from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
