Obituary

Henry Orval Goodrum, 72 of Vernon, Texas died on Saturday, July 23, 2022, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Services will be Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. Officiating will be Mike Klappenbach.

Henry was born Friday, July 7, 1950 in Vernon, Texas, he was the son of the late J.L. Goodrum and the late Johnnie Best Goodrum. Henry had lived in Vernon all of his life. He was a graduate of Vernon High School, and he attended Vernon College and Midwestern State College. He married Sandra Ritter on August 25, 1976 in Vernon, Texas. Henry served as a Specialist in the US Army from 1970-1976 during the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Berlin, Germany. He received the National Defense Service Medal and an Army Occupational Medal in Berlin.  Henry worked hard all his life started working at the age of 12, he always made sure his wife and daughters were taken care of. He worked at Celanese, United Supermarket, Oil Division of W.T. Waggoner Estate, and he retired from Tyson Food.  He was a man that could build or fix anything. He loved helping other people. Henry became a Christian at Second Baptist Church on April 21, 1985. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He loved to hunt and fish  his greatest joy was being able to take his four grandkids fishing. They loved being with Paw Paw what ever he was doing.

Henry is survived by his wife Sandra Goodrum of the home. His daughters, Stephanie Barauskas of Wichita Falls, TX and Melanie Chavez and husband Patric of Ft. Meade, MD; one brother, John Goodrum of Vernon, TX. His grandchildren Quentin Barauskas, Kyla Barauskas, Ryson Chavez, and Rylan Chavez, as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday July 26th at 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church

He is preceded in death by his father J.L. Goodrum, his mother Johnnie Goodrum on June 13, 2022 and his sisters Dorothy Ballard and  Claire Koehn June 26, 2022
