Houston "Buddy" Waggoner, Sr., 87 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, in Vernon, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday October 31, 2023 at 2:00pm at the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Brother John C. Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Houston was born Monday, November 11, 1935 in Vernon, Texas to the late Houston Jack Waggoner and the late Willie B Bride Waggoner. Houston married Elois Johnson in 1953 in Altus, Oklahoma. Houston and Elois were married for seventy years and he was a wonderful husband to Elois. Houston was a farmer most of his life and he really enjoyed watching westerns, and he knew all the actors. Houston was a very kind and loving person. Uncle Buddy to all and was always very giving. Houston and his family were members of the Wood Street Church of Christ.
Houston is survived by his wife of the home, Elois Waggoner, one son Houston Waggoner, Jr. of Vernon, TX, one daughter, Tanzy Waggoner of Prosper, TX. Eight grandchildren Roger Waggoner, Bryan Waggoner, Tyson Waggoner, David Waggoner, Kristy Greer, Latoya Logan, Gregory Vaughn and Jeremy Vaughn, ten great grandchildren Jalisa, Naomi, Jada, Bryan, Jr. Ronan, Jayce, David Jr., MyKayla, Olivia and Janessa, five great great grandchildren Josiah, Jakayla, Jamayaih, Jazaiyah and Zayne. Houston also leaves behind eight brothers and sisters, Billie Carol Favors, Louis Waggoner, Paul Waggoner, Marshall Waggoner, Loren Waggoner, Lloyd Waggoner, Patrick Waggoner and Nell Perry.
Houston is preceded in death by two daughters Rosie Waggoner and Bobbie Jean Waggoner, two sons Ernest Earl Waggoner and Billy Dwayne Waggoner, along with several brothers and sisters including Gladys Criss, Jewel Singletary, William Bill Waggoner and Fred Waggoner.
Visitation will be Monday from 6-8pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to a favorite charity.
