Isabel Ranjel
Herrera
Oct 18, 1928 — Dec 16, 2024
Isabel Ranjel Herrera, at the age of 96, peacefully departed this world on December 16, 2024, surrounded by her cherished family. As a beloved mother and grandmother, Isabel will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew her, remembered for her warm, delicious cooking and the profound love she shared with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Born on October 18, 1928, in Vernon, Texas, Isabel was the youngest child of Prajediz and Sista Ranjel. She grew up amidst her four brothers—Sabas, Felipe, Celestino, and Louis—and four sisters—Francisca, Luciania, Angelita, and Sabina. Throughout her life, she created joyful memories with her nieces, nephews, and her beloved pet dog, Tiempo.
Isabel's greatest joy came from being a devoted mother and nurturing her five children, also caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her passion for cooking and hand-sewing reflected her love, as she crafted clothing and blankets that enveloped her family in warmth. Music and dancing filled her home with happiness, embodying the spirit of togetherness.
Though Isabel is preceded in death by her parents, her eight siblings, her son, John Manuel Herrera, and her granddaughter, Francesca Dementina Arredondo, her loving spirit persists. She is survived by her son, Jose (Tamela) Herrera of Abilene; her daughter, Juanita (Kelly) McDonald of Fairfield; her son, Alfredo (Esmeralda) Herrera of Abilene; and her daughter, Frances (Carlos) Herrera-Perez of Hawley. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory dear.
As we reflect on Isabel's life, let us find comfort in the love she shared and the countless lives she touched, always carrying her gentle spirit with us.
