James "Jim" Henry Eakin, 74 of Vernon, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Trinity Fellowship Church in Sayre, Oklahoma, with Rev. Andy Taylor officiating.
Jim was born Sunday, April 30, 1950, in Borger, Texas. He was the son of the late Kenneth E. Eakin and the late Mary E. Yake Gentry. He married Wanda Greene on September 1, 1973 in Spearman, Texas. He bought and sold horses and was a horse farrier. Jim was a great husband, father, brother, and friend. He was a soft spoken, kind, unselfish, hard worker who never complained about anyone or any hardship he ever encountered. He loved his family, horses, rodeo, auctions, and the cowboy way of life.
Jim is survived by his wife, Wanda Eakin of the home, and four sons, Mark Everett Eakin & wife Kelly of Stephenville, Texas, James Matt Eakin & wife Kori of Vernon, Texas, Monty Kenneth Eakin & wife Brandi of Meridian, Texas, and Marty John Eakin & wife Kassidy of Vernon, Texas. Jim also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Caitlin Henson & husband Dylon, Coy Eakin, Bowie Eakin, Brazos Eakin, Devon Eakin, Easton Eakin, and Wyatt Eakin.
Memorials can be made to Camp of Champions Rodeo Camp in Sayre, Oklahoma.
