Jay Hulen Pierce, 82 of Vernon, Texas died on Sunday, January 1, 2023, in Vernon, Texas.

Graveside services will be held Monday, January 9, 2023 at 11:00 am at Dreamland Cemetery in Turkey, Texas under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home with Rev. Stuart Smith officiating.

Jay was born Wednesday, January 24, 1940 in Turkey, Texas. He was the son of the late Burl Pierce and the late Vida Weeks  Pierce. He married Mary Crose on July 4, 1987 in Wichita Falls, Texas.  Jay was a Security Guard for seventeen years, and he loved mowing the lawn.  He loved his family. He was a member of Vernon Church of Christ.

Jay is survived by his wife, Mary Pierce of the home; children, Burl Glenn Pierce & wife Judy of Stonewall, Texas, Sam Pierce & wife Tari of Bremerton, Washington, Jayson Pierce & wife Connie of Pampa, Texas, Sharladae Hugie of Pearland, Texas, Sebert Pierce of Vernon, Texas, Troy Claus of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Keith Claus & wife Skye of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Kay Eudy of Austin, Texas; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Vida Mae Pierce, sister, Joyce Winton, and cousin, Robert Pierce.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
