Jesse Dewayne Gentry, 72 of Vernon, TX passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, surrounded by family.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 10:00 am at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home with Mr. Mike Klappenbach officiating.

Jesse was born on Friday, August 15, 1952, He was a son of the late Jessie and the late Virginia Lou Gentry. He married Celia Ann Lancaster on December 13, 1972, in Fort Worth, Texas. Jesse then served in the United States Army from 1972 and was honorably discharged in June 1978. Jesse and Celia came to Vernon, Texas to start their family. Jesse was a carpenter and could build anything. Many people knew him from reading their electric meter for Southwest Rural Electric. When he retired, he worked part time at Sherwin Williams, where he loved to visit and help people with projects. Jesse loved his family, fishing, and ranching.

Jesse is survived by his wife Celia Ann Gentry of Vernon, TX, son Robert Allen Gentry, daughter Mary Lou and Jeff Case; grandson Skyler Gentry all from Vernon, TX, two sisters; Susan Gentis and Sharon McDowall, brother Kenny Gentry of Madill, OK. Jesse leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

Jesse is preceded in death by his parents Jessie and Virginia Lou Gentry, and daughter Jennifer Ann Gentry.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Sullivan Funeral Home from 8:00 am until graveside services begin.

Memorials can be given to the VFW Post 4747 of Vernon, TX.
