Jesse B. Murray , 77 of Vernon, Texas died on Sunday, August 1, 2021, in Vernon, Texas.

Services will be Friday, August 6, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Willie King. Interment will be held at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Jesse was born Monday, February 7, 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas, to Johnny B. Murray  and Betty Moore Lancaster, mothered by Mary Lee James Murray. Jesse met and married Lawanda Sue Bradford on April 17, 1964 in Vernon, Texas, to this union together they raised five children, she preceded him in death March 19, 2001.

Jesse also known as "Buzzard" enjoy fishing, hunting, he also enjoyed eating BBQ, possum, fried turtle, quail, rabbit, racoon, and fish that is how his nickname "Buzzard" was inspired, Jesse was one of a kind. He loved his family and enjoyed being around family and friends. As his health began to fail, he began to worship and praise God at home., Jesse was loved and cared for by many he was so appreciative and grateful for all the love that was shown to him. He was grateful for the staff at Angels Home Health and Elara Caring Health  for having the best nurses and home health aides they did an awesome job tending to the needs of Jesse.

Jesse was preceded in death by his wife Lawanda Sue Murray, son Michael Murray, brother John L. Murray, his biological mother Betty Moore Lancaster, and his loving mother Mary Lee James Murray, grandson Kevin Lewis.

Jesse leaves to cherish his memories his children, John Wesley, Carolyn Patrice Bryant (Patty), Sherry Clopton (Dwayne) Clopton, Chandria Murray (Shanie), Nikki Murray, Jesse Murray (Jay) and Kiesha Murray. Also, his siblings, Ethel Faye Smith, Sherial (Robert) Jamison, Mary Von Brown, Mayme Rogers, Johnny Ray Murray, Johnny B. (Teresa) Murray, Jr., Ria Moore, Kenny Moore, John Moore, Eugene Moore, and Denise Moore. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jesse also leaving behind his special close friends Anita Thomas and Louis Grant.

Thank God for all the fond memories, laughter, and love that our dad provided to us.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
