Jewel Katherine Smith, 97 of Wichita Falls, Texas passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023, in Burkburnett, Texas.

Graveside services will be Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 11:00am at Wilbarger Memorial Park, under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home with Dr. Derrell Monday officiating.

Jewel was born Thursday, September 24, 1925, in Richmond, Arkansas, to the late John C. Baker and the late Mildred Agnes Kilburn. Jewel married Marion H. Smith on June 6, 1944, in Eagle Pass, Texas. Marion passed away November 12, 1990. Jewel did volunteer work at the Center South in Vernon, Texas and worked part-time for Southwestern Bell. Jewel was a member of the Faith Chapter 713 of the Order of Eastern Star, she was also a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary 4747 of Vernon Texas and Chapter American Legion, she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Jewel is survived by her daughter, Sherry Murray-Garrett and husband Eddie of Wichita Falls, TX, her son, Curtis Smith of Wichita Falls, TX, one grandson, Paul Murray III of Wichita Falls, TX, and two great grandchildren, Destany P Murray and Aydan J. Murray of Burkburnett, TX. Jewel also leaves behind a sister, Peggy Gillespie of Tyler TX, along with many nieces and nephews.

Jewel is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mildred Baker, husband, Marion H. Smith, and brothers, T.L. Baker, George Baker, Kenneth Baker.
