Jim Barton, 94 of Vernon, Texas passed away on November 2, 2025 in Wichita Falls, Texas..

James Garland (Jim) Barton was born January 3, 1931, in Henryetta, Oklahoma.  Jim grew up in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.  He married Jo Ann Cox his high school sweetheart on July 25, 1951. He served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean conflict.

Jim moved his family to Vernon in 1977 when he bought the Plaza Theater.

Jim is survived by three sons, Steve (Peggy) of Nevada, Texas, Rick (Cheryl) of Altus, Oklahoma, and Randy (Amy) of Garland, Texas, grandchildren Angela, Kyle, Holly, Sean, Catrina, Brandon, Rikki, and great grandchildren Zylia, Austin, Kanon, Kenzli, Briggs, Urban, Brooklyn, Marleigh, and Stetson.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Jo Ann and brother Jack.
