Obituary

Jim Bradford, 87, of Vernon, Texas, passed away, Thursday, March 27, 2025,  peacefully at his home, that he shared with his wife Joyce for 55 years.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 10:00 am at the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Simons officiating. Burial will be held at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Jim was born on September 20, 1937, in Margaret, Texas, to the late Ralph Bradford and Zola Foster Bradford. He married the love of his life Joyce Hines on September 8, 1958 in Grandfield, Oklahoma, celebrating almost 67 years of marriage. He graduated from Quanah High School. Jim was a founding member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Pease River Chapter, member of the North Texas Model A Ford club for many years, and member of the National Horseless Carriage Association. He loved his family, cars and his garden, never missed a Summers Last Blast since its beginning and just this past year received the Legacy Award from Vernon Street Machine and Classics Association, Summers Last Blast. Charter member of the Plainview Antique Automobile Club. His garden was a passion that he put his whole heart in, from planning it to planting it and beyond. He would start in March, plant on Good Friday and water several times a day, you could often drive by sun up to sun down and find him picking or pulling weeds. He never once accepted payment for any of his cantaloupes, watermelons, corn, peas, tomatoes, squash, okra and the occasional pepper.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Hines Bradford of the home, Son, Jimmy Bradford Jr., and wife Debbie of Vernon, Jeff Bradford and wife Monica of Vernon, Daughter Julie Lama and husband Joey of Vernon, Grandchildren Jennyfer Jasso and husband Alejandro of Rogers, Arkansas, Mandy Rich and husband Bubba of Vernon, Scott Bradford of Wichita Falls, Stephanie Bradford of Vernon, Blake Lama and wife Klaudia of Vernon, Josh Bradford and wife Cassidy of Vernon. 17 Great Grandchildren, 2 great great granddaughters with a great great grandson to be born in May. Cousin Glenda Downes of Waco, Texas and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
