Joe Martinez Perez, 78, of Vernon, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, in Vernon, Texas.
Graveside services will be held Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11:00 am at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home with Rev. Sal Ochoa officiating.
Joe was born Friday, May 2, 1947, in Coleman, Texas. He was the son of the late Emilio Perez and the late Tomasa Martinez Perez. He married Donna Jolly on February 11, 2023, in Vernon, Texas. Joe worked all his life in construction. After retiring from Hallow Way Construction in Lansing Michigan in 2007, he returned to Vernon to be with family. Joe enjoyed playing pool, going to the casino, riding around, and fishing. He also enjoyed cooking out and feeding everyone, and he was a big Dallas Cowboy fan.
Joe is survived by his wife, Donna Perez of the home, four daughters, Sylvia Copeland & husband Matt of Vernon, Texas, Linda Sewall & husband Phil of Las Vegas, Nevada, Joyce Key of Wichita Falls, Texas and Sarah Ryan & husband Tracy of Vernon, Texas, two sons, Joe Perez, Jr. & wife Amy of Vernon, Texas and Carlos Perez & wife Chasidy of Lansing, Michigan, three stepchildren, Battista Haynes & husband Matt, Rene Herrera, Jr. and Mackenzie Martinez & husband Anthony. Joe also leaves behind twenty-one grandchildren, David, Mitch, Jennifer, Ashley, Alexandra, Christopher, Samantha, Craig, Josh, Tiffany, Jeremy, Ethan, Chasity, Joe III. Dillon, Zackary, Chelsi, Quinton, Talya, CJ, and Mia, thirteen step grandchildren, and forty-one great grandchildren.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Emilio & Tomasa Perez, his granddaughter, Heather Marie McCardell, his great grandson, Paxton Perez, four brothers, and six sisters.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
