John Robert Wattenbarger, Sr. 77 of Vernon, Texas died on Thursday, July 14, 2022, in Electra, Texas.

Services will be Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 10:00 am at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Danny McMahen officiating. Interment will be held at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Robert was born Monday, May 28, 1945 in Vernon, Texas, he was the son of the late Delmar Wattenbarger and the late Myrtle Danner  Wattenbarger. He married Barbara Diane Odom on August 15, 1964 in Vernon, Texas. He served in the National Guard. He worked for the US Postal Service for more than 20 years and most recently he was an employee of Sullivan Funeral Home. He was one of the most talented carpenters. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Robert is survived by his wife Diane Wattenbarger of the home. His son, John Robert Wattenbarger, Jr. of Vernon, TX, a sister, Wanda Odom of Wichita Falls, TX. His grandchildren Laura West, Heather Wattenbarger, Mendi Patterson, Ashley Nichols, Robert Allen Wattenbarger, and Dylan Wattenbarger and numerous great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Ricky Wattenbarger in October of 1991 and  three sisters and three brothers.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
