Obituary

Johannes Noel Wygal

John N. Wygal was born at midnight on December 24, 1956 in Childress, Texas.  John grew up in Illinois, and as a young man he served in the US Navy as a machinist mate.  In boot camp, he was recognized as best rifleman.  After the Navy, he settled in Childress, Texas and then came to live in Vernon, Texas.  He worked many years in the oil fields and was always known as a hard worker.  He could repair any kind of machine, one of his many talents.  He would often mow lawns or split firewood in the Vernon community.  He cared for widows' lawns and had a big heart.  He loved God, and he was baptized in the Church of Christ.  He also helped build a church in Ottawa, Illinois where Minister Charles Milner officiated.

He was affectionately known as "Red John" in Vernon.  He was preceded in death by his mother Billie Marie Wygal and his father Grady Wygal.  Surviving are his brothers Lynn and Gary and his "Beloved Sis" Rebecca Griggs.  He had many cousins, nieces, and nephews. There will be a "Celebration of Life" service Sunday, January 2 at 6 pm with Pastor Daniel Ochoa at TCE Church at 1329 Texas St. Vernon, TX. 76384.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sullivan Funeral Home in Vernon, Texas in his honor.
