Obituary

Johnnie Mae Rutledge, 83 of Oklaunion, Texas passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:00 am at the East to West Baptist Church with her son, Rev. Curt Rutledge officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Johnnie was born Saturday, June 6, 1942, in Vernon, Texas. She was the daughter of the late John Dunn and the late Marguerite Brinkley Dunn. She married Arvel Lee Rutledge on May 31, 1960, in Vernon, Texas. She retired from Vernon ISD where she was the Cafeteria Manager for Central Elementary for over thirty years. She was a very active member of the East to West Baptist Church where she headed the Prayer Group Ministries. Johnnie was also a Sunday School Teacher.

Johnnie is survived by her son, Curt Rutledge & wife Betha of Oklaunion, Texas, her daughter, Sherri Fiscus & husband Russ of Oklaunion, Texas, her two sisters, Gloria Purdy of South Carolina, and Ann Raymond of Stanberry, Missouri, and her brother, Mike Dunn of Bakersfield, California. Johnnie also leaves behind five grandchildren, Curt Rutledge, Jr. & wife Ana, Nicholas Rutledge, Hannah Rutledge, Staci Layton, and Ryan Layton, and eleven great grandchildren.

Johnnie is preceded in death by her husband, Arvel Rutledge, her grandson, Russell Rutledge, and her brother, Billy Dunn.

Memorials may be given to the East to West Christian Academy C/O East to West Baptist Church or the Children's Home (India) C/O East to West Baptist Church.
